The British born tenor Aidan Coburn made his operatic début with Glyndebourne Festival Opera (GFO) as the cover of Pedrillo Die Entführung aus dem Serail.  He returned the following season to cover Don Basilio Le nozze di Figaro and perform the role of Lady Macbeth in the new all male opera Macbeth by Luke Styles, Glyndebourne’s Composer-in-Residence. 

He also took part in workshops of Hamlet by Brett Dean prior to the premiere at GFO. Other opera engagements have included Il Duca Rigoletto and Spiridone in Donizetti’s Il campanello (Wexford Festival Opera), Beppe in Donizetti’s Rita (West Green House Opera), and Mozart Mozart and Salieri by Rimsky Korsakov (Time Zone Theatre).

His current opera engagements include Count Almaviva The Barber of Seville and Brighella Ariadne auf Naxos at Longborough Festival Opera.  His repertoire also includes Don Ottavio Don Giovanni, Herr Vogelsang Der Schauspieldirektor, Don Ramiro La Cenerentola and Bricklayer The Adventures of Pinocchio (Dove).   

In concert Aidan Coburn’s solo engagements have included Buxtehude Membra Jesu Nostri at the Wexford Festival, and performances with L’Arpeggiata, the Joyful Company of Singers, Haberdashers Choral Society, Latymer Choral Society, London Oratory Choral Society, Barts Choir and at the London Handel Festival.

As a recitalist he has sung at the Barbican and with Graham Johnson’s Song Guild at the LSO St Lukes.  His oratorio repertoire includes Bach St John Passion (Evangelist and arias), Britten St Nicholas, Dvorak Stabat Mater, Elgar The Kingdom, Handel Messiah, Haydn Creation, Mendelssohn Elijah, Mozart Requiem, Puccini Messa di Gloria¸ Rossini Stabat Mater, Tippett A Child of our Time and Verdi Requiem.

Aidan Coburn was a Choral Scholar at Lichfield Cathedral before studying for an Honours Degree in Music at Cambridge University and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where he participated in masterclasses including with Roger Vignoles.

While at Cambridge Aidan Coburn founded Shadwell Opera Company with whom he conducted an award-winning production of The Magic Flute (5 Stars at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), Cosi fan tutte and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

As a conductor Aidan Coburn has been Assistant Director and Acting Director of the London Oratory Schola Cantorum, and Music Director. of Colla Voce Singers, a London Chamber Choir comprising former choral scholars.
